Official Pack 729 Calendar
Can & Bottle Drive
Our Can & Bottle Drive is on Saturday May 9th from 10am-3pm. You can find the flyer for our Can & Bottle Drive here. We will be picking up cans from neighborhood homes, accepting can donations at the bus loop and sorting cans by type, making turning them in easier. As cans get sorted, we will also send teams to begin returning cans. Please wear Class B uniform to this event, and be sure to bring a drink and snack.
We expect 100% participation at this event as it is our biggest fundraiser of the year.
Pack Meeting - Crossover Cookout
The Crossover Cookout is our final Pack Meeting of the school year and is when all scouts cross over to their next den.
Your scout will need the neckerchief and slide for their next rank. You can find what their next rank is and where to get neckerchiefs at in our Uniform Guide.
Please note: our Uniform Guide has been updated for the upcoming year.
We’re supplying the Hot Dogs and toppings, please sign up to bring a side / dessert / dish to pass here. And please bring your own drinks.
Wayne-Westland Veterans Memorial Day Parade
For our first summer event, on May 24th will meet at 12:15pm at John Glenn High School to march in the Wayne-Westland Veterans Memorial Day Parade. We will meet at the start of the parade route as we will be kicking off the parade by handing out flags to everyone on the sidelines. The parade steps off at 1pm. Please be sure to dress in full uniform, and bring water, and sunscreen. We will also be handling the flag ceremony at the end of the parade. So be sure to stick around.
Binder Park Zoo Overnight Camp
Join us for our Spring Camp at Binder Park Zoo. Pack 729 has 64 spots available, and as a result, we are restricting registration to Scouts registered in Pack 729 and one accompanying adult per family. On March 14th, 2026 if spots are still available, anyone can register who meets the Binder Park Zoo requirement of being 6 years of age and older. Registration closes April 24th, 2026.
The campout runs from Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 6:00 PM through Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Also all Scouts and adults are required to have a signed waiver and an updated Scouting AB form prior to attending. Please submit these documents to Gretchen Hannah in person or at gretchen@hayespack729.org by April 24th, 2026.
Price includes meals. Please see the packing list here: https://binderparkzoo.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Overnight-Packing-List.pdf
Archery at Detroit Archers
We will be meeting at the Detroit Archers Club in West Bloomfield to have lunch (please bring your own drink for the day, the Pack will provide the food), hike the trails on the property (hopefully see some wildlife!), and of course the scouts favorite, have some fun shooting with bows and arrows!
Detroit Tigers Scout Day
All Scouts and Unit Leaders will also get to participate in a pre-game parade on the field (weather pending).
Den Meeting - Can & Bottle Drive Flyer Pass Out
This Meeting will be at Corrado Park where we will receive instructions and flyers to flyer the neighborhood, promoting our Can & Bottle drive. Be sure to come in uniform and dress for the weather.
This is treated like any other kind of outdoor event so we’re going to have buddies, and be sure to bring the Cub Scout Six Essentials. Also, Cub Scouts are to bring no personal modes of transportation to this event, so no skateboards, roller skates, bikes, et cetera. They will be going door to door, so those won’t do them any good anyways.
Detroit Commandery Visit
Visit the Sir Knights of Detroit Commandery No. 1, Knights Templar in the historic Detroit Masonic Temple with Cub Scout Pack 729. We will meet on the third floor of the Detroit Masonic Temple at 6:30pm. There is parking behind the building.
More details in the April Newsletter.

Learn about conservation from Wayne County Parks staff as well as some partner organizations, such as the University of Michigan Environmental Interpretive Center, Bees in the D, and Huron Clinton Metroparks.
