Pinewood Derby Adventure Day - Tuesday, March 3, 2026
This Den Meeting day will be dedicated to the Pinewood Derby Adventure relevant for your Den, and tips & tricks will be discussed for the race.
Pinewood Derby Car Turn-In - Tuesday, March 10, 2026
All cars will be turned in on this date and not returned until after the race. Please come prepared to make adjustments to your cars if they do not pass inspection. All cars are required to be complete and DRY before they can be accepted.
Pinewood Derby - Friday, March 13, 2026
Race day! Watch your cars race in full uniform. Pizza will be provided by the Pack, but it can be a long night, often lasting several hours, so please bring drinks and snacks. The seats closest to the track are set aside for racers so when your race is called please come to those seats and if you are not racing please sit at the table or stand behind the seats of those currently racing.
Pinewood Car Derby Rules
Car Specifications:
Maximum Width — 2 3/4″
Maximum Length — 7″
Maximum Weight — 5 ounces
Wheel bearings, washers and bushings are prohibited.
The car shall not ride on springs.
The wheels must be the wheels included in the kit.*
Only dry lubricant is permitted.
Details, such as steering wheel and driver are permissible as long as these details do not exceed the maximum length, width and weight specifications.
The care must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
Each car must pass inspection, the owner will be informed of the reason for failure, and will be given time within the official weigh-in time period to make the adjustment.
After final approval, cars will not be returned to the Scout until after the race.

Pinewood Derby Races
Cars will race multiple times so that every car gets a chance on every lane of the track.
Den Races: Each Den has its own race. (Note: Larger Dens may be split into two separate races). The 1st place winner from each Den receives a trophy.
Grand Championship: The 1st place winners from every Den will race against one another. Trophies are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall winners.
Best in Show: Scouts will vote for their favorite car design, and the winner will receive a Best in Show trophy.
Family Race: At the conclusion of the Grand Championship we hold a family race where non-scouts can race their cars in a just for fun competition. This is open to kids and adults.
